Title: COX-2,VEGF-C Expression and Its Relationship with Clinicopathological Parameters in Human Laryngeal Squamous Carcinoma
Abstract: Objective: To detect the expression of COX-2 and VEGF-C, and to investigate their relationship with clinicopathological parameters in human laryngeal squamous carcinoma (LSCC). Methods: Immunohistochemical S-P method was used to measure the level of COX-2 and VEGF - C protein in 64 samples of human LSCC and 33 samples of normal laryngeal mucosa, analyzing their relationship with clinicopathological parameters. Results: The expression of COX-2 and VEGF-2 was higher in LSCC, their positive rates were 76.56%,96.77% respectively, but in normal laryngeal mucosa were 9.09%, 3.03%, there was statistical difference in both groups (P0.01). The expression of COX-2 and VEGF-2 was higher in upglottis, poorly-differentiated and Ⅲ and Ⅳ stages LSCC (57.58%, 96.77%, 83.67% and 79.07%, 90.32%, 100%), but lower in others types, there was statistical difference in both groups(P0.01). The expression of VEGF-C was related with COX-2. Conclusions: Higher expression of COX-2 and VEGF-C was closely correlated with LSCC ,which is of significance for lymphatic metastasis and prognosis.
