Title: Expression and significance of MMP-7 and MMP-9 in colorectal cancer
Abstract: [Objective] To investigate the relationship between the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-7 and MMP-9 in colorectal cancer and the tumor invasion and metastasis. [Methods] 50 colorectal cancers and normal colorectal specimens were collected and continuous paraffin slices were made from each samples. The MMP-7 and MMP-9 were analyzed by immunohistochemistry SP method. [Results] The positive expression rate of MMP-7 and MMP-9 of colorectal cancer tissues(68.00%,82.00%)and normal colorectal tissues(0 and 24.00%) showed significant difference(P 0.05).The positive expression rate of MMP-7and MMP-9 of colorectal cancer with (86.96%,91.30%)and without(51.85%,74.07%)lymphatic metastases showed significant difference(P 0.05). There was a positive correlation between MMP-7 and MMP-9 expression in colorectal tissues(r=0.84,P=0.05).[Conclusion] The overexpression of MMP-7 and MMP-9 is significantly associated with the tumor invasion and metastasis in colorectal cancer.
