Title: Projecting the Spatial-temporal Evolution of Economic Pattern in China
Abstract: The domestic market is reshaping the economic pattern in China. In this study, the methods of standard deviation ellipse and standard distance were applied to the 287 cities(prefecture-level and above) in China aiming to project the spatial-temporal evolution of economic pattern. The evolution trends are summarized as followings. From 2003 to 2010,the economic center of gravity in China is shifting toward the inland direction with the spatial contraction and intensive development, the economic growth is faster in the east-west direction than that in the north-south direction, and the economic spatial disparity is decreasing. It is demonstrated that the role of agglomeration economy initiated by the domestic market in China is continuing to be strengthened. For the future economic development,it is recommended to build the economic core area in the region of the North China Plain and the Yangtze River Basin,to increase the investment in the provinces of Anhui,Henan and Hubei that are close to the domestic market, and to promote China's economy with endogenous growth and the coordinated development of the coastal and inland area.
