Title: Comparative study on conventional Pap smear and liquid based thinPrep cytology test in the screening of cervical lesions
Abstract: Objective To investigate the applicative value and clinical significance of conventional Pap smears(CS)and thinPrep cytology test(TCT)in the screening of cervical lesions. Methods The cervical cytological examination results of 2 247 cases were retrospectively analyzed,of which,1 043 cases were detected by TCT,and 1 204 cases by CS.The sample satisfaction rate, detection rate and diagnose accordance rate between TCT group and CS group were compared. Results The sample satisfaction rate in TCT group was higher than in CS group(99.81% vs 76.83%,P0.01).The detection rate of atypical squmaous cells and above in TCT group was also higher than in CS group(23.78% vs 8.64%,P0.05).But the diagnose accordance rate had no significant difference between TCT group and CS group(86.84% vs 83.33%,P0.05).Conclusion The thinPrep cytology test is more sensitive than conventional smear in detecting cervical lesions.
