Title: Rooting Capacity and Correlative Enzymes Activities of Hardwood Cuttings of Mulberry
Abstract: Rooting capacity and changes of the related oxidase activities of hardwood cuttings from 3 mulberry varieties,Lusang seedling,Dalusang and Nongsang 14,were investigated in this paper. The experiment results showed that cuttings from Lusang seedling has high rooting capacity, and the rooting percentage reached to 71.1%.The rooting percentage of cuttings from Dalusang and Nongsang 14 were only 32.20% and 44.43%,respectively.But the rooting percentage of cuttings from Nongsang 14,treated with 150 mg/L IBA solution, reached to 81.1%,which increased 36.67% higher than that of the control. The activity of indoleacetic acid oxidase increased sharply during induction rooting phase and declined during root expression and elongation phase. The peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase activities increased gradually during rooting phase. The above results suggsted that changes of activities of 3 oxidases tested were tightly related to the rooting process of cuttings in mulberry.
