Title: The Age-Effects of Hardwood-Cutting of Platanus orientalis and Its Rooting Response to α-NAA
Abstract: A cutting experiment was done with hardwood cuttings from mother plants of different ages and treated with different concentrations(100 and 500mg/L) of α-NAA for two hours. The activities of POD,PPO and IAAO and the C/N ratio were determined, and their relationship with rooting rate was discussed. The results showed that an existed in the rooting of hardwood-cuttings of P.orientali;α-NAA could offset the age-effect and promote rooting rate of aging mother plants;the activities of POD,PPO and IAAO,soluble sugar content and C/N in the hardwood decreased with increasing age of the mother plant;soluble sugar content and C/N were in significant positive correlation with rooting rate;differences were observed among all the treatments and rooting stages. The above results suggested that the activity of the 3 oxidases studied were closely related to the rooting process of the cuttings of P.orientali.
