Title: The Significance of COX-2 and EGFR Expression in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical significance of COX-2 and EGFR expression in non-small cell lung cancer and to evaluate their role as prognosis markers. Methods The expression of COX-2,EGFR were detected in primary lung cancer tissues in 58 cases and in normal pulmonary tissues 9 cases as the control by immunohistochemical method. Results The positive expression of COX-2 and EGFR were 60.34%(35/58) and 63.79%(37/58) in lung cancer and 11.11%(1/9) in normal pulmonary tissues respectively. There are significant difference of COX-2 and EGFR expression between lung cancer and normal pulmonary tissues(P0.01).COX-2,EGFR expression were correlated with TNM classification and lymph node invasiveness of lung cancer(P0.05),and they are not correlated with age, sex, smoking history, histology type of patients with lung cancer(P0.05).COX-2 expression was correlated with EGFR expression(P0.05).COX-2 and EGFR in the positive expression group had a shorter survival time than that of COX-2 and EGFR negative expression group(P0.05).Conclusion COX-2 and EGFR may play roles in the development, invasiveness of lung cancer.they might be useful markers in the prognosis of lung cancer.
