Title: Comparision of efficacy of rabeprazole-based and omeprazole-based triple therapy in the treatment of peptic ulcer
Abstract: Objective To compare the efficacy of rabeprazole-based and omeprazole-based triple therapy in the treatment of peptic ulcer with Helicobacter pylori(HP) infection Methods 80 patients with HP infection and active peptic ulcer were divided randomly into rabeprazole group and omeprazole group,The two groups were firstly treated with triple therapy:clarithromycin 0.5 g bid and amoxicillin 1 g bid together with either rabeprazole 10 mg bid(rabeprazole group) or omeprazole 20 mg bid(omeprazole group) for 1 week and then either rabeprazole 10 mg qd or omeprazole 20 mg qd for another week. The eradication rates of HP and the healing rates of peptic ulcer were evaluated by endscopy 4 weeks after the treatmen. And symptoms were observed during the treatmen. Results The ulcer healing rates in rabeprazole group and omeprazole group were 95% and 77.5%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.05).The eradication rate of Hp in rabeprazole group and omeprazole group were 87.5% and 75%,there was no significant difference between the two groups. The symptoms relief rate on the 1st and 3rd day in rabeprazole group and omeprazole group were 82.5%,92.5% and 62.5%,72.5%,there was statistically significant difference tween the two groups. Conclusion Both are effective for curing peptic ulcer, relieving symptoms, and eradicating HP,rabeprazole-based triple therapy is superior to omeprazole-based triple therapy in rapidly improving symptoms.
