Title: EXPRESSION AND SIGNIFICANCE OF PPARγ AND MMP-7 IN ESOPHAGEAL SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression and biological significance of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor γ(PPARγ) and matrix metalloproteinase-7(MMP-7) in esophageal carcinoma. Methods The expression of PPARγ and MMP-7 was examined by SP immunohistochemical stain(IHC) in 40 cases of esophageal carcinoma specimens,25 cases of dysplasia and 13 cases of normal tissues. Results The positive ratio of PPARγ in esophageal carcinoma (52.5%) was significantly higher than that in dysplasia(20%) and normal tissues (7.7%) (P0.05).The positive ratio of MMP-7 in esophageal carcinoma (62.5%) was significantly higher than that in dysplasia(28.0%) and normal tissues (0%) (P0.05).High level of PPARγ was significantly correlated with poor differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).High level of MMP-7 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and fibromembranous infiltration (P0.05).There was a positive correlation between MMP-7 and PPARγ. Conclusion The high expressions of PPARγ and MMP-7 could be involved in oncogenesis and metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
