Title: Clinical pathological significance of the expression of nm23-H1 and matrix metalloproteinase-7 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship of the expression of nm23-H1 and matrix metalloproteinase-7(MMP-7) protein, the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods SP immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of nm23-H1 and MMP-7 protein in 60 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma specimens,30 cases of adjacent atypical hyperplasia epithelium and 60 cases of normal esophageal epithelium. Results The expression of nm23-H1 was closely correlated with infiltration depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(P0.05).The expression of MMP-7 protein was closely correlated with the tumor histological grade, infilatration depth and lymphatic metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(P0.05).In the esophagus epidermis canceration process, the expression rates of nm23-H1 in normal esophageal epithelium specimens, adjacent atypical hyperplasia epithelium and carcinoma reduced in turn which were 95.0%(57/60)、56.7%(17/30)、21.7%(13/60)respectively.And there was significant difference in group comparison(P0.05).The positive rate of MMP-9 protein expression in cancer tissue and mucosa adjacent to cancer were higher than that in normal mucosa tissue which were 73.3%(43/60)、80.0%(24/30)、36.7%(22/60) respectively. And there was significant difference in group comparison(P0.05).There was negative correlation between the expression of nM23-H1 and MMP-7(P0.05).Conclusion nm23-H1 and MMP-7 play important roles in infiltration, metastasis and mucous membrane epidermis canceration process of esophageal carcinoma.nm23-H1 and MMP-7 can become one of molecular index in the early diagnosis and prognostic judgement of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
