Title: Research on friction stir welding technology of dissimilar metals of aluminum alloy and stainless steel for machine tool
Abstract: A dissimilar metals welding test of 6063 aluminum alloy and 304 L stainless steel for machine tool are carried out by butt friction stir welding with different welding parameters, and the X-ray nondestructive testing microstructure and mechanical properties of joints are tested and analyzed. The results show that the good joints can be obtained at the rotation rate between 500 r/min and 650 r/min and at the welding rate between 155 mm/min and 185 mm/min. And the tensile strength of joints can research 139 MPa,which is67% of that of 6063 aluminum alloy and 17% of that of 304 L stainless steel. The optimized rotation rate is 550 r/min and the optimized welding rate is 180 mm/min.
