Title: Clinical therapeutic effect of rosiglitazone maleate on glycaemic, lipid metabolism and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic mellitus patients
Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the influence of rosiglitazone maleate on glycaemic and lipid metabolism and insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. Methods:A total of 182 eligible patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus were randomly assigned to regular treatment group(group RT) and rosiglitazone maleate treatment group(group RM).Plasma lipid level, plasma glucose and insulin levels and hemoglobin A1c level were measured, homeostasis model of assessment-insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity index were calculated and compared between the two groups before and after 12 weeks' treatment. Results:After 12 weeks treatment, the TG,FPG,2 hPG,Hb A1c,FIns,2 h Ins level as well as HOMA-IR significantly decreased in the observation group, but HDL-C and ISI levels increased. The RM group showed significant improvements in glycaemic and lipid metabolism and insulin resistance comparing with the control group. Conclusions:Rosiglitazone maleate shows significant hypoglycemic effects without producing severe side effects.
