Title: The Buddhist Spirit and Confucian Heart in Jia Dao's Poetry
Abstract: Jia Dao seems like a Confucian in his outward performance, while his inner heart remains the Buddhist spirit. The Buddhism philosophy and Confucianism are obviously embodied in his poetries. In his early experience of being a monk, befriending with and writing poems with monks and profound Zen spirit in his poetries all reflect his Buddhist seclusion heart with Zen principles.Futhermore, his active actions to get fame in officialdom and a great amount of dedicatory works with persistent reciting his poems mutely also reflect his strong ambition to make his talents used.Between seclusion and participating,he keeps writing his own spirit world, and it forms his unique poetry style.
