Title: Comparative Study on the Effect of Aripiprazole and Risperidone on Schizophrenia
Abstract: Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of aripiprazole and risperidone in the treatment of schizophrenia. Methods: Seventy-two patients with sihizophrenia by CCMD-3 were randomly allocated to two groups treated with aripiprazole or resperidone respectively for 6 weeks. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Treatment Emergent Side effect Scale (TESS) were used to evaluate the efficacy and adverse effect respectively. Results: The clinical efficacy and the incidence of adverse effect in the two groups had no significant difference. Conclusion: Aripiprazole is as effective and safe as risperidone for the treatment of sihizophrenia and fewer side effect. The incidence of adverse effect in two drugs has no any significant difference. But It shows that aripiprazole is superior to risperidone in extrapyramidal symptoms, endocrine change and weight gain.
