Title: A comparative study of aripiprazole and risperidone in the treatment of first-episode schizophrenia
Abstract: ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of aripiprazole and risperidone in the treatment of first-episode schizophrenia.Methods A total of 7 patients with first-episode schizophrenia were randomly divided into aripiprazole group and risperidone group. The treatment duration was six weeks.PANSS and TESS were used to evaluate the efficacy and side-effect respectively before treatment and on the 1st,2nd,4th and 8th weekend of after treatment.Results The effective rates of aripiprazole and risperidone were 64.7% and 63.6% respectively, which showed no significant difference. There were no severe side effect in both group, but the rate of some adverse effects including akathisia,myotonia, lactation and menstruation disorder in aripiprazole group were fewer than that in risperidone group.Conclusion Aripiprazole and risperidone are effective in the treatment of first-episode schizophrenia. Aripiprazole has few adverse effects.
