Methods Under local anesthesia, a scalp strip was harvested from the back angle of the head and ear, near the hairline. Under 2.5-4 times magnification, the strip was then divided into a series of micrografts with single-hair. After the micro-slits were prepared by 1-1.5mm 30-45 (sapphire knives in the recipient site, the grafts were implanted into the different-angle holes with the Chio's implanter, parallel to the original eyebrow direction. Results From July 2001 to Dec 2004, 300 patients with 451 eyebrow-sparseness, resulted from mini burn scar, lesion excising or congenital loss, were treated by this one-session operation. Most of the patients were satisfied with the results. Only severe scar cases need replant secondary. The grafted hairs grow nearly in the direction of normal eye-brow, which achieve 93% survival. The appearance of the reconstructed eyelashes was extremely natural, close to the normal one and quickly recovered, which compared to the traditional methods. Conclusion The mentioned technique is a simple, fine, safe and effective method for eyebrow reconstruction with the appearance much closer to normal one though it needs some skillful care of compressive stress and cutting for a period .Read More
