Title: Study on relation between plasma homocysteine levels and coronary heart disease
Abstract: [Objective] To investigate the relationship between the plasma homocysteine(Hcy) level and coronary heart disease(CHD).[Methods] Fifty-nine CHD patients and 30 normal subjects were recruited to participate the study.Their plasma total Hcy levels were measured by using ELISA.[Results] For normal controls(n=30),total Hcy level was(4.02±5.75)μmol/L,for patients with angina(n=34),total Hcy level was(24.60±15.99)μmol/L,and(30.08±18.11)μmol/L.For those with myocardial infarction(n=25).Statistically,the mean plasma total Hcy levels between normal and patient group(P0.05) and among the two patient groups were all significant different(P0.05).[Conclusions] Plasma Hcy level in CHD patients is higher than that in normal subjects, and the degree of increased level is consistent with the severity of the disease. The results show that high concentration of Hcy in plasma is an independent dangerous factor for coronary heart disease.
