Title: Clinical study of correlation of serum homocysteine levels with coronary heart disease in female
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between serum homocysteine levels and coronary heart disease(CHD) in female. Methods According to the coronary angiography results,202female patients with coronary heart disease were divided into coronary heart disease group (CHD) (135cases) and control group (67 cases).According to the numbers of coronary artery disease, the patients in coronary heart disease group were subdivided into one branch disease group (53 case),two branches disease group (45 cases) and three branches disease group (37 cases). The levels of serum homocysteine ( HCY),total cholesterol ( TC ),triglycerides (TG),high-density lipoprotein ( HDL-C ) and lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL-C) were detected in the 202 patients.Age,history of hypertension, diabetes history, smoking history and family history of coronary heart disease were also investigated.Smoking patients were not found during the Investigation. Results ()The HCY serum level in CHD group was significantly higher than that in the control group( P <0.01 ) ; ②The HCY serum level in one branch disease group was significantly higher than that in the control group( P <0.01 ),the HCY serum level in two branches disease group was significantly higher than that in one branch disease group ( P < 0.05 ),the HCY serum level in three branches disease group was significantly higher than that in the two branches disease group( P <0.01 ).Multiple comparison in each group, the differences were all significant ( P < 0.05 ) ; ③There were no significant differences in the HCY serum levels in CHD group with different hypertension history, diabetes history and family history( P >0.05 ),the HCY serum level of postmenopausal women in CHD group was significantly higher than that in not postmenopausal patients; ④The HCY serum level in CHD group was positively correlated with age and the level of TC ( P <0.01)and negatively correlated with the level of HDL-C ( P < 0.01 ),but was not correlated with the level of TG and LDL-C( P >0.05).Conclusions HCY may be a risk factor of coronary heart disease in women, and the degree of coronary lesions increased with the HCY level increased. Some of the traditional risk factors hke age and blood fat may have effect on HCY level, and increase the risk of coronary heart disease in female, the increased HCY serum level in postmenopausal women will increase the risk of coronary heart disease.
