Title: A control study of sodium valproate and lithium carbonate in the treatment of manic episode
Abstract: Objective:To observe the efficacy and side effects of sodium valproate and lithium carbonate in the treatment of manic episode. Method:Eighty patients with manic episode were divided into study group (sodium valproate) and control group (lithium carbonate) randomly.Efficacy and side effects were assessed with BRMS,CGI and TESS respectively before treatment and after treatment for 2,4,8 weeks. Results:After two weeks treatment, the total score of BRMS and the score of each factor were significantly lower than that before treatment in study group,and the scores of treatment factors and TESS was significantly lower in study group than in control group. Conclusion:Sodium valproate is more effective and well tolerated in the treatment of manic episode.
