Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)in the pathogenesis of breast carcinoma by studying the expression levels and the correlativity of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),estrogen recep...Objective To investigate the effects of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)in the pathogenesis of breast carcinoma by studying the expression levels and the correlativity of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR)and C-erbB-2 in breast carcinoma.Methods The expression levels of COX-2,ER,PR and C-erbB-2 of human breast carcinoma were tested by immunohistochemistry method.The correlativity of COX-2 with ER,PR and C-erbB-2 are studied in human breast carcinoma.Results In 49 human breast cance cases,the positive rate of COX-2 was 61.22% and had no corelation tumor staging(P0.05),but it was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis(P0.005).The expression synchronism of ER and PR were 85.18% and their negative expression were correlated with the positive rate of C-erbB-2.The positive rates of C-erbB-2 expression were 59.18% and were correlated with the positiveness of lymph node metastasis status.In the 29 C-erbB-2 positive cases,the positive rates of COX-2 expression were 79.31%.While,in the 20 C-erbB-2 negative cases,the positive rate of COX-2 expression were 35%,that was of significant difference as compared with the former(P0.005).Conclusions The expression levels of COX-2 in breast carcinoma was high.COX-2 plays an important role in the pathogenesis and metastasis of breast carcinoma.Apart from the tests for the biological indicators of lymph node metastasis,the expression levels of ER,PR,C-erbB-2 and COX-2 should be tested to evaluate the development and prognosis of breast carcinoma.Read More
