Title: Screening of Okra Genotypes against Sucking Pests and Yellow vein mosaic virus Disease under Field Conditions
Abstract: A field experiment was conducted during Rabi, 2009–10 to evaluate 21 different okra genotypes/cultivars for their relative preference to whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius); aphids, Aphis gossypii (Glover) and leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) as well as Yellow vein mosaic virus (YVMV) disease. The genotypes viz., IC331217, IC332453 and IC342075 and cultivars viz., Manisha-211 and Arka Anamika were negligibly preferred over other genotypes/cultivars by whiteflies, aphids, and leafhoppers; showed tolerant reaction to YVMV disease and also recorded higher fruit yields.
