Title: Screening of Bt Cotton Genotypes for their Reaction to Sucking Pests and their Natural Enemies
Abstract: The experiment was laid out at Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad to screen 25 cotton genotypes against sucking pests during 2013–14. The results revealed that among twenty five genotypes, MRC-7918 and Chiranjeevi showed the resistant and moderately resistant, respectively to aphids, thrips and whitefly. No genotypes showed resistance to mirid bug but Chiranjeevi and MRC 7351 showed moderately resistant. DCH-32 was highly susceptible to all sucking pests. There was no significant difference among the genotypes in recording natural enemies over the season. The seed cotton yield was significantly highest in Chiranjeevi (28.55 q/ha) which was on par with MRC-7918 (25.46 q/ha) and the next best genotypes were RCH-708 (24.69 q/ha) and Prathik (23.32 q/ha). Among all the genotypes, non BtDCH-32 recorded significantly less yield of 12.04 q/ha.
