Title: Screening of okra varieties against yellow vein mosaic virus disease under natural field conditions
Abstract: Among the 15 okra varieties three entries viz, Nirmal-303, Parbhani Kranti and Versha Uphar were moderately resistant to yellow vein mosaic virus and others remained moderately susceptible or susceptible. Minimum mean whitefly populations were found on variety Nirmal-303 (4.4 whitefly/plant), Versha Uphar (5.5 whitefly/plant) followed by parbhani kranti 4.75 whitefly/plant) as compared to local check (9.7 whitefly/plant). Maximum fruit yield was found in variety Nirmal-303 (3.6 kg/plot) followed by Parbhani Kranti (3.75 kg/plot) and Versha Uphar (4.5kg/plot) in comparison to local variety (3.2kg/plot). Among the 15 varieties tested in the field, did not show any highly resistant and resistant reaction. Out of 15 varieties only 8 varieties had shown susceptible reactions and four were found to be moderately susceptible.
