Title: ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLES: AIRPORT SHUTTLE OUTREACH PROGRAM
Abstract: The paper looks at a successful program to advance deployment of alternative fuel vehicles in shuttle fleets at airports across the United States. Described are reasons for the interest in this market for alternative fuels, the structure of the outreach program, the overall strategy used, results to date, and the outlook for the airport shuttle market in the near term. Compressed natural gas and propane have been the most common alternative fuels used. The outreach strategy discussed and program structure will have applicability for others trying to promote the use of alternative fuels as well as other new technologies in other markets, including transit.
