Title: CONSIDERATIONS FOR IMPLEMENTING A PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AT THE LOCAL LEVEL
Abstract: Pavement management systems have been developed to assist agencies to better manage their pavement networks. They can assist in quantifying the fund needs and the impact of funding decisions on the health of the network. There are a set of common elements which should be included in any PMS adopted. There are a series of steps which should be followed in the adoption and implementation of the PMS. Implementation of PMS at the local level works best if there is a regional support structure to assist with development, training and interaction among users.
