Title: PRACTICAL ITS DEPLOYMENT THROUGH SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE AND STANDARDS
Abstract: This paper summarizes practical ITS system deployment through the available ITS requirement analysis, national system architecture, market and technology analysis, system benefit/cost evaluation, system specifications and standards, and system renovation and upgrade to address regional ITS deployment needs. It is important to recognize that the United States National ITS Architecture dose not represent a particular ITS design or ITS plan.Rather, the U.S. National ITS Architecture provides a starting point or a generalized analysis framework from which different users can work together to make a unified ITS Vision for their region. Although the U.S. ITS National Architecture and ITS Standards were developed with U.S. national in scope, it can benefit operating agencies in other countries, by saving time and money in achieving maximum benefits through the implementation of practical and integrated ITS services for sustaining transportation improvements in the 21st Century.
