Title: Effect of insulin pump on oxygen stress level in patients with different courses of type 2 diabetes
Abstract: Objective
To investigate the effect of insulin pump on oxygen stress level in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with different courses of diabetes.
Methods
A total of 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated at our from Jan., 2018 to March, 2019 were divided into group A (<3 months, n=30) , group B (1-5 year, n=15), and group C (5-10 year, n=15) according to the disease course. All the patients received two weeks of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion(CSII). 75 g OGTT were performed. The blood glucose, GA, 8-iso-PGF2a, insulin, and C-peptide were measured before and after CSII. Insulin secretion index(HOMA-β) and insulin resistance index( HOMA-IR) were calculated before and after CSII treatment.
Results
The levels of FPG, 2hPG, GA, and 8-iso-PGF2a decreased significantly in all the 3 groups after the treatment; HOMA-βincreased significantly in group A and group B (both P<0.05); and HOMA-βincreased in group C, but without statistical difference.
Conclusion
Insulin pump intensification therapy can improve β cell of islet function and relive insulin resistance, and remarkably improve the oxygen stress level in patients with different courses of type 2 diabetes.
