Title: Expression of S100A4 and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 in thyroid carcinoma and thyroid be-nign tumor and clinical significance
Abstract: Objective
To analyze the relationship between the expression of S100A4 and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT 3)and clinical biobehaviors in thyroid carcinoma and thyroid benign tumor.
Methods
Immunohistochemistry was used to assess the expression of S100A4 and STAT 3 in 12 cases of thyroid normal tissues,23 cases of thyroid benign tumor tissues and 88 cases of thyroid carcinoma tissues.
Results
The expression rate of S100A4 in normal thyroid tissues, thyroid benign tumor tissues and thyroid carcinoma tissues was 16.67%(2/12), 58.44%(12/23) and 80.68%(71/88) respectively with the difference being significant(P<0.05).The expression of S100A4 was related thyroid carcinoma to American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC)clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and the degree of infiltration(P< 0.05).The expression rate of STAT 3 in normal thyroid tissues, thyroid benign tumor tissues and thyroid carcinoma tissues was 25.00%(3/12),65.22%(15/23)and 85.23%(75/88)respectively with the difference being significant(P<0.05).The expression of STAT 3 was related thyroid carcinoma to AJCC clinical stage, differentiation degree and lymph node metastasis(P< 0.05).
Conclusion
Detecting the expression levels of S100A4 and STAT 3 in thyroid carcinoma has certain reference value for judging biological behaviors and evaluating prognosis of patients with thyroid carcinoma.
