Title: The expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR3 in invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma and its significance
Abstract: Objective The expression of vasular endothethlial a growth factors receptor(VEGF) -C and vascular endothe thlial growth factors receptor(VEGFR) 3 was observed in invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma in order to elucidate the mechanism of lymphatic metastasis of cancer cell. Methods The expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR3 in invasive and noninvasive papillary thyroid carcinoma was examined by immunohistochemical staining for comparison and analysis. Results Both VEGF-C (x2 =4.738,P =0.03) and VEGFR3 (x2 =11.951,P =0.01 )expressed in invasive and noninvasive papillary thyroid carcinoma but were highly expressed in invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma. Conclusion The VEGF-C and VEGFR3 were highly expressed in invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma and perhaps have correlation with the invasiveness of cancer.
