Title: Epidemiological analysis of public health emergencies in Guangzhou from 2004 to 2017
Abstract: Objective
To analysis the epidemiological characteristics of public health emergencies in Guangzhou from 2004 to 2017, so as to provide scientific basis for the effective prevention and control of public health emergencies.
Methods
The information of reported public health emergencies from 2004 to 2017 collected from Public Health Emergency Reporting System were analyzed by SPSS 19.0 software.
Results
A total of 1 147 public health emergencies were reported in Guangzhou from 2004 to 2017. The attack rate was 0.23%. Average annual attack rate was in downward trend (x2=3 5398.21, P<0.01). The events were mainly communicable disease epidemics (1 043 events, 90.93%). The average attack rate in central urban area was 0.21% and that in surrounding area was 0.35%. The difference was statistically significant (x2=4 043.47, P<0.01). The public health emergencies occurred mainly in schools (789 events, 68.79%).
Conclusions
Communicable disease events were the major type of public health emergencies in Guangzhou from 2004 to 2017. The epidemic disposal in surrounding areas should be standardized. Prevention and control of infectious diseases in schools during peak periods need to be particularly strengthened.
