Title: Clinical Significance of Serum MMP-9 Level in Acute Aortic Dissection Presenting with Abdominal Pain
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical significance of matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9)for differentiation of acute aortic dissection(AAD)with abdominal pain in emergency. Methods Healthy subjects(control group),AAD patients with abdominal pain(AAD group),patients with acute pancreatitis(pancreatitis group)and patients with other acute abdominal diseases(acute abdomen group),with 20 in each group were enrooled.Serum levels of MMP-9,lipoprotein(a)[LP(a)] and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunoturbidimetric assay respectively, and the results were compared. Results The level of serum MMP-9 was(1 352±415)μg/L in AAD group, which was higher than(127±87)μg/L in control group,(768±239)μg/L in pancreatitis group,and(244±90)μg/L in acute abdomen group(P0.01).The level of hs-CRP was 1.7(3.6)mg/L in control group, which was lower than 22.5(33.3)mg/L in AAD group,20.9(26.1)mg/L in pancreatitis group, and 21.3(29.7)mg/L in acute abdomen group(P0.01);while among AAD,pancreatitis and acute abdomen groups there was no significant difference in hs-CRP level(P0.05).The level of LP(a)was(50±23)mg/L in control group, which was lower than(395±49)mg/L in AAD group,(383±68)mg/L in pancreatitis group,and(360±46)mg/L in acute abdomen group(P0.01);while among AAD,pancreatitis and acute abdomen groups there was no significant difference in LP(a)level(P0.05).Conclusion AAD patients with abdominal pain had significantly higher serum MMP-9 level than patients with pancreatitis and other acute abdominal diseases.
