Title: Single electron transistors with quantum wires
Abstract: Single-electron transistors with quantum wires have been fabricated. These transistors are realized from a process of fabricating nanoelectrode-pairs. Most of them clearly show Coulomb blockade oscillations, which can be adjusted to be periodic by applying negative voltages to the in-plane gates. This demonstrates the potential applications of these transistors. With increasing temperature, the position of the peaks in the oscillations shifts at high temperatures. The shift is attributed to the thermally activated transport.
