Title: Protective effects of Xuezhikang on pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary function in chronic cor pulmonale patients
Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the ameliorated efficacy of Xuezhikang on pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary function in patients with chronic cor pulmouale and smoking habit. Methods: Fifty-seven COPD patients with smoking habit were randomly divided into Xuezhikang group(n=29) and routine group(n=28).Both groups were given routine treatment, while extra Xuezhikang(600 mg/d) were given to patients in Xuezhikang group.Six-minutes walking test(6-MWT),pulmonary function, pulmonary arterial pressure and artery blood gas indie were recorded at baseline and after six months. Results: In the Xuezhikang group, the pulmonary arterial pressure was significantly reduced while the 6-MWT,FEV1,FEV1/FVC and PaO2 were significantly improved after 6 months, when comparing with those in routine group and at baseline(both P0.05).No significant change of was revealed in routine group(P0.05).Conclusion: Xuezhikang efficiently improves life quality by reducing pulmonary arterial pressure and improving pulmonary function in chronic cor pulmonale patients with smoking habit.
