Title: Analyzing the Differences of Antigenicity of Schistosoma japonicum Worms at Various Developmental Stages
Abstract: Objective TO observe and compare the differences in immunological characters of Schistosoma japonicum(Sj)at different developmental stages. Methods Worms were recovered from Kunming strain of mice infected with Sjcercariae at days 0,8,12,16,20,24 and 28 post infection, respecttvely.Antigenic specificity of worm antigens recognized by normal mouse sera and infection mouse sera(SjInMS)against S.jworms was analyzed by Western blot. Results The results of Western blot showed that much more bands were recognized by SjInMS than SjNMS.Specific bands,4 bands in 0d worm,7 in 8d,9 in 12d,7 in 16d,7 in 20d,10 in 24d and 6 in 28d worms, were recognized only by SjInMS.Protein bands with molecular weights of 23,26,32,50,79 kDa in worms at 7 stages were recognized only by SjInMS.There were different bands recognized by SjInMS between worms at two different stages. Conclusions Schistosomula japonicum has differences in the antigenicities at different developmental stages.
