Title: Study on Cross-Reaction Between Soluble Antigen of T.spiralis Muscular Larva and Anti-Schistosoma Japonicum Sera
Abstract: To investigate the protective immunity against
Schistosoma japonicum(Sj) induced by Trichinella spiralis (Ts) from molecular level.
Cross-reactions between supernatant antigen of T.spiralis muscular larva and several
anti-Schistosoma japonicum sera were analyzed by means of SDS-PAGE and enzyme-linked
immunoelectrotransfer blot (EITB). The antigens of T.spiralis were recognized by Schistosoma
japonicum infected rabbit sera(SjIRS),anti-Sj male worm rabbit sera (aSj),anti-Sj cercaria
(aSjcer),anti-soluble egg antigen (aSEA),anti-soluble immature egg antigen
(aSIEA),anti-circumoval sera (aCos),anti-Schistosoma japonicum adult worm surface
membranous antigen (aSjAWSMA) and anti-glutathione S-tranferase(AGST),showing extensive
cross-reacting bands. The SjIRS displayed many bands of 3192 KDa which were found in Ts
infected rabbit sera (TsIRS),aSj displayed at least 11 bands, especially those with 92,87,66,58
KDa.The aSIEA was charaterized by the appearance of legible 63 KDa band and densely
stained 54 KDa band, while the aSEA by the presence of 58,57 KDa bands. Both antisera
exhibited the same bands of 92,87,54,47 KDa.The aSjcer revealed a few bands unclearly(55,54,
52,49,47,31 KDa etc.).Bands with MW of 55,54,47,44 and 42 KDa were seen in aCos,whereas a
distinct band of 54 KDa appeared in aSjAWSMA. The antigen of Ts against Schistosoma
japonicum is very complex. It manifects cross-reactions with immune sera obtained from
different developing stages and components of Sj.
