Title: Study on floatation separation of Au(III) with KBr-Cetyl pyridinium bromide-water system
Abstract: The behavior and conditions for the flotation separation of Au(Ⅲ) from other metal ions were investigated with Cetyl pyridinium bromide-KBr system. The results showed that Au(Ⅲ) combines with Cetyl pyridinium bromide and KBr into a ternary ion association precipitate AuBr4-.CPB + in the aqueous solutions,The precipitate was floated well on the surface of water phase to make the system to divide into both liquid and sold phases with a distinct boundary layer.Au(Ⅲ) could be quantitatively separated from Ce(Ⅳ),Ni(Ⅱ),Ru(Ⅲ),Cr(Ⅲ),Ga(Ⅲ),Rh(Ⅲ),Co(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ),Zn(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),Al(Ⅲ),Sn(Ⅳ) and V(Ⅴ)by flotation when the concentrations of Cetyl pyridinium bromide and KBr in solution were 5.0×10-4 mol/L and 7.0×10-3 mol/L,respectively.This method is used for floatation separation and determination of Au(Ⅲ) in the sample of synthetic water with floatation efficiency of Au(Ⅲ) was higher than 99.8%,and the floatation efficiency of the other metal ions is less than 3.3%.This method are practical for the separation and enrichment of trace gold.
