Title: Study on Flotation Separation of Hg(II) from Ce(III),Ga(III),Zr(IV) and U(VI) by Spectrophotometry
Abstract: The behavior and conditions for the flotation separation of Hg(Ⅱ)with tetrabutyl ammonium bromide-KI system from other metallic ions were investigated.Hg(Ⅱ)combines with tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and KI into a ternary ion association precipitate [HgI4][TBAB]2.The precipitate floated on the surface of water with a distinct boundary layer between liquid and solid phase.Hg(Ⅱ)could be quantitatively separated from Ce(Ⅲ),Ga(Ⅲ),Zr(Ⅳ)and U(Ⅵ)when tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and KI were 6.0×10-4mol/L and 5.0×10-3mol/L,respectively.And it was used for the floatation separation and determination of Hg(Ⅱ)in the sample of synthetic water with floatation rate of Hg(Ⅱ)was higher than 99.3%,and other metallic ions is less than 1.7%.The method is practical for the separation and enrichment of trace mercury.
