Title: Flotation separation of platinum(IV) by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-potassium iodide-ammonium sulfate system
Abstract: The behavior and conditions for the flotation separation of platinum(Ⅳ) from other metal ions were investigated with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-potassium iodide-ammonium sulfate system. It showed that Pt(Ⅳ) with potassium iodide and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide formed a ternary associated complex, which was insoluble in water and floated on the upper layer of salt-water to enable the system to divide into both liquid and solid phases with a distinct boundary.Pt(Ⅳ) can be separated completely from Cr(Ⅲ),Co(Ⅱ),Mn(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Al(Ⅲ),Fe(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ)and V(Ⅴ)in the presence of 7.0×10-4 mol/L cetyltrimethylammonium bromide,4.0×10-3 mol/L potassium iodide and 0.5 mol/L ammonium sulfate at pH 3.0.The method was applied to the separation of Pt(Ⅳ)in the synthetic solution and Ni-Pt/Al2O3 catalyst with RSD of 2.5% and the results are agreement with the certified values.
