Title: Expression of VEGF and Survivin protein in colorectal carcinoma tissue with liver metastasis
Abstract: Aim:To detect the expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and Survivin in colorectal carcinoma tissue with liver metastasis. Methods:The expressions of VEGF and Survivin in 80 cases of colorectal carcinoma(50 cases of adenocarcinoma, among which,24 were complicated with liver metastasis;30 cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma, among which,14 were complicated with liver metastasis) tissue were detected using immunohistochemistry. Results:The positive expression rates of VEGF and Survivin in adenocarcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma tissue with liver metastasis(VEGF:79.2% and 85.7%;Survivin:83.3% and 92.9%) were higher than those without liver metastasis(VEGF:34.6% and 25.0%;Survivin:38.5% and 31.3%)(χ2=10.053,11.059,10.470 and 11.808,P0.01).The expressions of VEGF and Survivin in colorectal carcinoma tissue were positively correlated(rP=0.323,P0.001).Conclusion:The expressions of VEGF and Survivin might be closely related with colorectal liver metastasis. The expressions of VEGF and Survivin could reflect the malignant degree of colorectal carcinoma and be used as the prognostic predictors.
