Abstract:The Xiaojing scripts created by the Chinese Hui Muslims, areused to spell the different local spoken dialects of the Hui Chinese, and Dongxiang language(a kind of Mongolian language) and Salar languag...The Xiaojing scripts created by the Chinese Hui Muslims, areused to spell the different local spoken dialects of the Hui Chinese, and Dongxiang language(a kind of Mongolian language) and Salar language(a kind of Turkic language) as well. According to our investigation thesescripts are widely used in many provinces and ethnic minorities autonomous areas, like Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Henan, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia, etc. By the adapted Arabic letters and with minor adjustment, Xiaojing scripts are similar with Arabic and Persian, namely using no-vowel-letters and phonetic symbols to indicate long, short or combined vowels.
