Title: Investigation of CT perfusion imaging after focal cerebral ischemia in rats of ischemia peripheral zone
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the relationship between CT perfusion imaging and pathological changes in the right middle cerebral artery occlusion of rats in ischemia peripheral zone. Methods:All 52 rats were divided into 3 groups: Group A(sham-operated) was taken as control study);Group B(occluded for 2 hours),CTPI scan were performed at 0 h,0.5 h,1 h,2 h,4 h,6 h,24 h after reperfusion;Group C(occluded for 6 hours),CTPI scan were performed at 0 h,0.5 h,1 h,2 h,24 h after reperfusion. All rats were killed immediately after scan and dealt with light and electron microscopy. Results:In group A,no abnormal outcomes were found in CTPI and electron microscopy. In group B,the rCBF and rCBV were significantly increased. In group B,light and electron microscopy revealed edema in extracellular, nuclear pyknosis, swelling mitochondrion, and the endothelial cell shrinked, the lumen of capillary narrowed. In group C,the rCBF and rCBV were always at low level. Conclusion:The changes of CT perfusion imaging can reflect the changes of pathological changes in the right middle cerebral artery occlusion of rats. There is a reversible injury in ischemia peripheral zone of occluded for 2 hours. And there is an irreversible injury in ischemia peripheral zone of occluded for 6 hours.
