Description: Firstly, 2-methyl-2-ethyl-1,3-dinitropropane was prepared with butanone and nitromethane in the presence of piperidine as catalyst. Then it was reduced to the title compound with iron and hydrochloric acid. The optimum reaction conditions were found by research, and the ratio of target to title compound was 81.2%.
