Title: Comparative study between tianeptine and paroxetine in treatment of depression
Abstract: Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of tianeptine and paroxetine in the treatment of depression. Method:Sixty patients with depression were randomly divided into tianeptine group(n=30)and paroxetine group(n=30) and received treatment for 6 weeks. HAMD were used to assess the efficacy before treatment and after treatment for 1,2,4,6 weeks. Results:There was no significant difference in efficacy between two groups. HAMD scores decreased dramatically at the end of 2nd week in tianeptine group and 1st week in paroxetine group. The rates of efficacy and marked improvement in tianeptine group and paroxetine group were 900% and 733% , 90.0% and 80.0% respectively. Conclusion:It is suggested that both tianeptine and paroxetine are effective in the treatment of depression,with mild side effects.
