Title: A Comparative study of citalopram and Paroxetine in the treatment of depression
Abstract: Objective:To compare the efficacy and side effects of citalopram and Paroxetine in the treatment of depression. Methods:82 patients who met CCMD-3 criteria for depression were randomly assigned to citalopram group and Paroxetine group.The Period of study was 6 weeks.The efficacy was rated with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),and the side effects were rated with Treatmend Emergent symptoms scale(TESS).Results: Total clinical effective rate and response rate Was 63.4% and 83% for Citalopram group,63.4% and 78% for Paroxetine group after 6 Weeks repectively.There Were no significant differences on clinical efficacy between 2 groups.Conclusions: Citalopram and Paroxetine is effective antidepressants with fewer side effects.
