Title: Adjuvant treatment of severe viral hepatitis and hepatitic cirrhosis with glutathione
Abstract: AIM: To estimate the adjuvant therapeutic efficacy of glutathione for severe viral hepatitis and hepatitic cirrhosis. METHODS: Forty patients were divided into two groups, treatment group with glutathione and control group. Twenty patients of treatment group (F 16, M4, age 44±s 11 a) were given 0.6_1.2 g glutathione in 250 mL 10% glucose, iv, gtt, qd, for 1_2 mo on the base of synthetic treatment with diammonii glycyrrhizinate, hepatic growth factor, Yin_zhi_huang etc. Twenty patients of control group (F 18, M 2, age 46±12 a) were given synthetic treatment. RESULTS: Improvements of symptoms and signs in treatment group were better than that in control group (P0.01, P0.05). The changes of serum bilirubin and prothrombin time in treatment group were superior to that in control group (P0.05), but there was not significant difference of ALT change between treatment group and control group (P0.05). CONCLUSION: adjuvant treatment of severe viral hepatitis and hepatitic cirrhosis with glutathione showed better therapeutic efficacy.
