Title: Effects of insulin on c-fos and bcl-2 genes expression in rats with focal cerebral ischemia followed by reperfusion
Abstract: Objective To investigate the mechanism of the central neuroprotection of insulin on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods The model of focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in rats was established with the suture-occluded method invented by Zea Longa, the expression of FOS and BCL-2 protein in rats pretreated with insulin(2IU/kg)during the different time of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion were observed by immunohistochemical method. Results Compared with the control groups, insulin can significantly increased the expression of FOS and BCL-2 protein both in the ischemic cerebral cortex and in basal ganglia (P0.001). Conclusion To increase the expression of FOS and BCL-2 protein may be one of the mechanisms of the central neuroprotection of insulin.
