Title: Expressions of p57~(kip2) and PCNA in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and their clinical significance
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To study the significance of expressions of p57~(kip2) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).METHODS: p57 kip2 and PCNA were analysed by using SP immunohistochemistry technique in tumor and adjacent tissues.RESULTS:Of the LSCC: the positive rate of p57~(kip2) was 42.5% which was significantly lower than that of adjacent tissues (72.5%). The expression of p57~(kip2) was negatively correlated with TNM stage, tumor cell differentiation, lymph node metastasis and prognosis. The positive rate of PCNA was 55.0% which was significantly higher than that of adjacent tissues (30.0%). The expression of PCNA was correlated with TNM stage, tumor cell differentiation, lymph node metastasis and prognosis. The rates of survival time≥5years of patients with p57 kip2 positive and p57 kip2 negative were 76.5% and 39.1%, respectively. The rates of survival time≥5 years of patients with PCNA positive and PCNA negative were 40.1% and 72.2%, respectively.CONCLUSION:p57~(kip2) and PCNA were independent markers of progression and prognosis of patients with LSCC. Different expression levels of p57~(kip2) in LSCC are probably related with different regulating directions.
