Title: Role of conventional magnetic resonance and diffusion weighted imaging in determination of lymph node metastasis in cervical carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the sensitivity and specificity of conventional magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) in diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer. Methods A total of 113 patients with IB1 to IIB stage cervical cancer underwent conventional MRI and DWI,and radical hysterectomy plus pelvic and/or paraaortic lymph node dissection. Results Pathological examination showed that lymph node metastases occurred in 19 cases(16.8%).The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of conventional MRI and DWI for determining lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer were 68.4%(13/19),96.8%(91/94),and 92.0%(104/113),respectively.Conclusion There is a high predictable accuracy of conventional MRI and DWI for determining lymph node metastasis in cervical cancer.
