Title: Application of MRI in diagnosis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma with cervical lymph node metastasis
Abstract: Objective To study the MRI features of tongue squamous cell carcinoma(TSCC) and explore a better method of MRI diagnosis of TSCC with cervical lymph node metastasis. MethodsTwenty-four patients with TSCC underwent MRI emanation, and the features and tumor thickness of TSCC on MRI were compared with the pathological findings. Results MRI showed good performance in displaying tumor invasion, tumor thickness and extension. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy for diagnosis of the lymph nodes metastasis were 66.7%, 76.9%,and 66.7%,respectively.Lymph nodes metastasis occurred in 0.00%, 33.33%,and 80.00% of the case with tumor thickness of less than 5 mm, 5-10 mm and more than 10 mm,respectively(P0.05). Conclusion MRI features in conbination with tumor thickness are useful in improving the accuracy of diagnosis of cervical lymph node metastasis.
