Abstract: Interlanguage refers to the second and foreign language learner's linguistic system.It is independent of both the learner's mother tongue and the target language he is learning.Based on the analysis of what the learner does in the process of learning the language,interlanguage is divided into random error stage,emergent stage,systematic stage and stabilization stage.The stage-based division of interlanguage is of great importance.It helps us have a correct understanding of the process of the foreign language learning and the learner's linguistic system.Thus,level-based and learner-centered foreign language teaching will really occur and the learner's language proficiency will surely improve.
